Happy Mother's Day!

Here is a picture of Corbin, myself along with Aly and Ty surrounding us this morning. Al and the kids made me Creme Brulee French Toast for breakfast and then had me open a few wonderful gifts. I was certainly spoiled today.
Speaking of Mother's day, hello...my Mom rocks! I couldn't have picked a better woman to teach me, inspire me, and definitely put up with me. A wise man (my kids principal from last year) had told a few of us at school that "most people would give up our lives for their children, but few actually live for our children". That really hit home and made me realize, yes that is what being a parent is about, living for your kids! So with that thought in mind, a very happy Mother's day to my Mom who indeed has lived for me and to all of you Mommies out there who are living for their child(ren)! You guys all rock!!

For my Scrappin' Sunday I made this page thinking about Mother's Day. The top picture is my Mom holding me (her first baby of three). The bottom picture is Me with Ty (my first baby of three). The picture of my Mom and I has a bright blur on the bottom corner, only guessing that it is a finger or some weird flash thing. Gotta love those 70's pictures. The picture of Ty and myself I cropped down and put a vanilla border around it to mimic the first picture. I used one of the "Sketch This" layouts for this page and I think I may still add a little journal box towards the bottom.

Now the card, I made this probably a month ago right after I got this Gina K stamp set. I guess the flower is really a daffodil, but at first glance I thought it was an iris. When I was, gosh maybe 10 years old my Mom had bought me a beautiful comforter set with periwinkle irises all over it. I loved that comforter! So my very first idea for the stamp (that I thought was an iris) was this card. I used my scor-pal on two pieces of white card stock and scored a quilted pattern. One piece was for the actual card and the second white piece was for a stencil. I cut out the center of one of the diamond shapes and lined it up over the top of my card base. I then stamped the flower part on top of the stencil and repeated hitting every diamond. I used chalk pencils to color in the flower and add a Iris beard (this is when I actually figured out the flower was not an iris...hello ding dong). I used an almost amethyst Stampin' UP! marker to faux stitch the scored lined giving the pattern a little more dimension. This is the card that I gave my Mom for Mother's Day last night when we went out to celebrate.
No "Sunday Blues" tonight! *wink* Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

what a terrific creation with the scor-pal and masking, I hadn't seen this before. it's okay, Pam, it can be an iris if you want, I love irises! (what is it then? a daffodil...?)
