Paper Askew Studio's Ginormous BLOG CANDY!!!

Well here it is, my ginormous blog candy give away! I can't guarantee that I won't add some more goodies to this pile. I couldn't get a picture to capture every single item in this mountain, so one lucky person will be in for a surprise. There are 12 x12 papers, die cuts, stamps, ribbons, brads, eyelets, stickers, chipboard pieces, tags....and the list goes on!

Here is another birthday card I recently made, this one for a little boy. I used the Making Memories "Big Kids" 950 set to create this card. I love all the fun bright colors and patterns in the papers and accessories. The card base is Soft Soft from Stampin' UP!

When I was a little girl...

...I dreamed of being a ballerina. Well my dreams changed as I grew older and I never was in ballet class, but my little girl is. I am not sure if it is just a girl thing or if Aly is just simply graceful. She rarely falls and always seems to know how to run around a corner bobbing and weaving so that she never hits her head. I always thought Aly would be a wonderful dancer because of her coordination. Our boys were so much different, always banging their head or scraping up their knees.
We asked Aly if she would like to start ballet class this summer and you should have heard the squeal that came out of this child. We asked if she would like to be in gymnastics and the answer was clear "NO, I am a ballerina".
SO, today was her first class and of course I was a proud mama snapping photos. I have had the urge to get busy making some layouts, its been a while since I lost most of my photos when my computer died. Finally I had the time and the photos and OMG the perfect paper! A page for my little princess, our ballerina to show off this special day.

Caardvarks Challenge

Time for another Caardvarks challenge, this one is sponsored by Club Scrap. I received one of their book boxes to assemble and decorate. I love the pattern paper that came in the kit, so bright and cheery. I added card stock stickers from Basic Grey to finish off the decorating. End of the year Thank You

I made a couple of these cards for my kids teachers to thank them for a wonderful year. They were really simple to throw together. I used some retired paper from SU, American Crafts rub-ons (which I am addicted to, so if you want to send me some that would be cool LOL) and a straight square frame from Creative Cuts and More. The ribbons are from knows where...a stash I have. The button brads are Making Memories.

Sorry I have been gone for a few weeks, boy how that sneaks by. I was getting the kids finished up at school, finishing up my job that I left and reading 3 of the 4 books in the Twilight series. Any of you addicted like me? Seriously, I NEVER read...EVER and once I saw the movie Twilight I fell in love with the characters. I asked for the book series for Mother's Day and have been reading since. You know it has to be good to take away from my card making time...geesh! I will have to make some Edward cards for my girlfriends sometime soon. The combo of cardmaking and Edward....sigh!!

Shape up, our challenge theme this time around over Caardvarks. Just think of all the shapes you can make besides the basic square or standard rectangular cards we all do. It was really a nice change and challenge to create a card with a "shape" to it. My card today is really appropriate because it is suppose to hit 90 degrees here in Denver. An ice cream will be much needed this afternoon I am sure!

I created my card using the "Doodlebug Charms" Cricut cartridge. I liked the way the top of the ice cream looked, but the cone was a little off for me. SO...I make my own cone, scored it with my Scorpal and rubbed some barely banana craft ink across the embossing to help show off the texture. I then add the cone to the cream, fit it to a white card stock card. I added some little rhinestones and Ice Stickles from Creative Cuts and More a button and ribbon which are from SU and a little "Thank You" charm. Really pretty easy actually.

A quick one...

Just a quick post today. I made this card for one of the Moxie Fab World challenges. This umbrella diecut is from CC&M. I have some more of these umbrellas so I am going to have to come up with some other ways to use them.

Welcome CC&M Blog Hoppers!

I chose to work with the baby theme for this round. I think my favorite die cut from Creative Cuts and More has to be the baby shoe. I loved this little favor box, but what really pushed me to create such detailed shoes was Jennifer's set. Jennifer was a CC&M guest designer and my mouth hit the floor when I saw her shoes and the box she attached them to.I knew once I saw these that the decorating options for the shoes were endless. They are so addictive....I can't stop making them!
I have made single shoes and pairs of shoes which I have attached to simple paper mache boxes and decorated to match. I have even sold a few of these box sets, they are really cute in person and make a one of a kind gift container.


Once I got into baby shoe mode I decided to try out the adorable diaper card die cut. I wanted to make this diaper card into an announcement so I used the tag from the tag pocket set. I trimmed of the bottom corners off of the tag so that it would fit into the diaper without protruding out the bottom sides. I ran both the diaper and tag through the Cuttlebug using the "Swiss Dots" folder to give the set a little more texture. The diaper was cut from Double Mates cardstock, which has a little bit of texture. Double Mates is a cardstock that has a dark and a light side, so depending on your needs you have a choice. For mine I went with the lighter shade then ran white chalk ink over the embossed dots to make them really pop!
