A New Look,Paper Flower Tutorial & Contest

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Easter was so much fun for us. We did the not so normal Easter thing and took the kids to see a movie after all of our other traditions were finished. We saw "How to train your dragon".We paid the extra and saw it in Imax 3D...wow is that cool, but the stinkin' glasses are ummmm...hello FACE FURNITURE! Those glasses were huge and took up 3/4 of my face. Oh well they did the trick and I found myself bobbing and weaving in certain parts. Such a cute movie, we all really liked it from age 5-40! I highly recommend this one.

Some of you may have noticed my new look here on Paper Askew Studio. Just playing around with the look and it will probably be changing again. I love to play around with different themes, colors and patterns. I am sure this summer will bring something completely different.

So last Friday I posted on our Party Starters Blog a cute little favor or project to make for a little girl's party. Today I thought I would share that idea and the easy tutorial with you here as well. So get ready to make some of these super easy flower favors/decorations. By the way, the contest info is at the end of this post.

Step one: Use either a die cut, paper punch or electronic paper cutting devise to create different sizes of flowers or even circles. Punch a 1/4" hole in the centers of each piece. Make sure you pull the ribbon through enough so that you have room to tie a knot.
Step 2: Take a large piece of ribbon (I used a piece about 18" long) fold it in half and taking the center push it though all of the holes in the centers of the flowers.
Step 3: Tie a knot at the very end of the end that it on the top of your flower.
Pull any extra ribbon back through the flower.
Step 4: Secure your ribbon on the back side of the flower by tying a knot. Voila! Your finished!!
You can use these flower decorations for:
Gift Bag ties
Little Girls wrist corsages
Hair ties
Napkin wrap
Decorating vases or candy jars
Package bows etc....

Try making these out of felt as a more permanent decoration to tie back drapes, or add a pin to the back creating a lapel or hat pin.
