Happy Leap Day!

Has it really been 4 years since our last February 29th? Wow, trying to remember 4 years ago and well I can't. Heck I can't remember what I made for dinner two nights ago LOL! Well here it is my last card for 1 Crafty Gal's February challenge. I LOVE this little Penguin guy! I actually have the little girl that matches, but Aly seems to have walked off with it and now who knows where it went. The sand and sun stamps are from Printworks and the sentiment is from Stampin' UP! I know I could have embellished this card a bit more, but I had such a headache and well I still do. Amazing how one ear can throw off your whole body! Darn you Eustachian tube!!!
Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to post a comment today and tomorrow then check back on Sunday to see who the winners of my blog candy packages are.

OK I can't count...

So the challenge that I have been working on is...14 stamped items within the month of February. Well hello I had three items before I started actually counting. So this card is really number 12, thank goodness because I was running out of items and time...yikes!
On this first card I used my Cricut to cut out the red wheel barrow. I just picked up this Easter stamp from my favorite Scrapping store, Scrapbook Destination. This stamp is from Stampendous, isn't the bunny the cutest! The designer paper is from Eye Lets Etc as well as the little flower eyelets. I added my own little grass creation to the bottom corner since the leg of the wheel barrow didn't quit come down low enough for my liking. This card measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".

For card number 13 I used the little bird stamp. Since this was the first time using this set the clear stamp didn't want to ink up. Finally I tried inking the stamp up with versa mark first and then added the blue. It helped a little, but I still had to fill the image in a bit with my marker. I stamped this on white and cut it out and added it with a dimensional. Does anyone have a solution that they could share as to how you get your new clear stamps to actually accept ink?? It is kinda frustrating when you get some new stamps and they don't work they just bead up the ink. Help!!
Well tonight is my big challenge. 1 more project to post for tomorrow. I am thinking it will be something simple as I have such a headache tonight. I have been having ear problems and have lost the hearing in my right ear. I am on heavy duty decongestants, which are starting (slowly) to work on my ear, but they give me a headache and make me feel awful. Lovely huh! So if my creation tomorrow isn't up to par, please forgive me. LOL! See ya tomorrow.

Cards 6,7 & 8 oh yeah and blog candy

This card is number 6 of my 14. The basket is Scissor Sisters paper and for some reason looks really dark in this picture and doesn't show the pattern..sorry. The majority of the items on this card are from Eye Lets Etc. They have just started carrying paper flowers which I am dying to get my hands on. The ones I used here are just cheap ones from the Target dollar spot. I used a bunch of eyelets today and added brads to the centers for a little extra bling. I tried to use my crop-o-dile to set some of these eyelets and it just mashes them regardless of how gentle I am with it. My spring-let eyelet setter works so much better for setting eyelets, so I highly recommend this little tool.

Card number 7 is a quick one I put together. The stamp is a Stampin' UP! Sell-A-Bration set called So Many Scallops. The paper is all SU as well. I used markers to color right on the rubbah and then stamped on SU white cardstock. I have tried a ton of different brands of white card stock and no one beats SU! You always get a crisp image and no bleeding...love it!

Card number 8 is my favorite of the day. This cute little chick is another Stampin' UP! image from the set Good Egg. I stamped him on white card stock and then again on a piece of bright yellow mulberry paper. I used a blender pen to write around the edges of the images and then pulled gently where the paper was wet. This makes my little chick look all nice and fluffy. I was going to paper piece the egg shell with soft sky and had it glued on then changed my mind. The bottom half stuck and well...I kinda liked it so there it stays. I then covered the egg shell with Stickles so it sparkles. The pretty patterned paper and eyelet are from Eye Lets Etc. I added a big chunky Memory Makers brad to the center of my purple eyelet for a little more color.

Well that is it for tonight. I will be back tomorrow night with three more! Don't forget to leave your comment for a chance at those blog candy gifts!

Card #5

Here it is...card number five, the pink and green "girl version" of my #3 star card using "Independence Day" . I had a lot of fun with this one. I also tried a technique I haven't done before, Faux Shaving Cream. All I did was ink up the large star image with pretty in pink classic ink, then inked the small star in this set with pink passion classic ink. Next I kissed the small stamp to the large stamp and twisted, then lifted up and moved it a little and did the same motion. Super easy! Beate has a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers with step by step instructions and pictures, check it out. (just click on the word Faux up above)
So I took pictures of my card and forgot to take pictures of the blog candy which I will be drawing two winners on Sunday, March 2nd. I will try to get that done tonight yet and post tomorrow afternoon, so you can all see what you are posting comments for besides telling me how cute my stuff is..LOL! Seriously I can't tell you all how much your comments and feed back mean to me. I truly appreciate it!!
See ya tomorrow

Card #5 is blog candy coming soon!

Just wanted to give you an update on card number five. I spent all weekend actually organizing and cleaning up my studio and didn't get to make my card until late last night. I will take some pictures and get it posted tonight after I get home. I also put together my blog candy and wow someone is going to be lucky! Since I was cleaning things out I just kept adding to the candy goodness. I may have to split it up and pick two names....hmmmm sounds good huh!? I will take a picture of the treats tonight as well and post those tomorrow.
Have a super day and thanks so much for looking!
Smile big....thats how I get through Mondays! :)

Card number four and blog candy...

Here is card #4 of the challenge. I was ready to make a card that matched yesterday's post only in pinks and greens. I started going through my scrap box and these pieces popped out at me. This card just kind of happened. I am still using the same sketch, but obviously with flowers. I was done and then realized I need a stamped image on the card in order for it to be part of the challenge, so I grabbed this little bee. I am not sure who made it or even where you can find him. My Mom had found a bunch of used stamps at a garage sale and bought them for me. This cute little guy was in there and lucky me, he fit right on this card. Maybe tomorrow I will try again to make the pink star card, although I am very happy with how this one turned out.
Hey don't forget to post a comment and enter in the blog candy drawing...you have until March 1st!! Thanks so much to all of you who have already posted. I love to hear from you! Have a great weekend!!

Blog Candy & 1 Crafty Gal's challenge... day2

Here is my third card for 1 Crafty Gal's February card challenge. I used "Independence Day" from Stampin' UP! one of my newest favorite sets, but I seem to be saying that a lot... ha ha! This card was the last of the three cards I designed for my stamp camp this past Saturday. I may change out the stamp set and colors and turn this into a girlie b'day card. I think it would be cute in pink's and greens. Hmmm may have to do that tonight when I get a chance.
Thank you so much to all of you who have sent me comments so far. I am getting closer to my goal of reaching 1000 hits by March 1st...yippee! Keep posting your comments for a chance to win some tasty blog candy!

You Make Me Smile

Today I held a stamp camp during a crop day at the local high school. The PTSA holds crop days once a month and all money collected from this activity helps pay for the schools After Prom Party. This is the second school year that I have been a part of this great fundraiser and I can not tell you how much fun it is! I really look forward to it each month. Today was even more special because I was able to meet in person a fellow blogger. Laura, from A Day In The Life Of The Paper Poppy came to the school so that we could crop a little, make cards and get to know each other. Laura is so talented and I absolutely adore the work that she does, you must check out here blog.
I made this card tonight in honor of Laura. We both agreed that we are tired of the cold and snow and we are really ready for Spring. The weather started out nice this morning and by the time we were leaving it was getting windy and cold. So, I thought this card with bright cheery colors would remind us that Spring is just around the corner... hang in there Laura!

Take the picture again, I think I blinked...

I took a picture of the huge mess that the kids created while making Valentines. It was 9:30PM, of course we weren't finished and it was a school night so taking pictures was the last of my worries. I thought during this whole process, just snap a picture and get on with it. So here I am ready to get out my cute picture and what do I realize... the ONE and only picture that I took Ty's eyes are half open and he looks a little on the "baked" side. So I have this delema, do I post it anyway, because I said I would have a picture for you all OR do I let the picture go and protect my son from the horror. The horror of those terrible pictures that we have all had, the one where we look like we are just waking up, but of course at the same time posing like a model with a huge grin. I choose to protect my son.

Valentine Gifts

I have Wednesdays off and that is my time to spend with my 3 year old little girl, Aly. Today we started gathering up some gifts for Valentine's Day. These are two of the gifts that I put together using two different containers that I got a Target a while back. I made the heart tag with my Cricut, stamped the sentiment "from the heart" with my SU stamp set, "Holidays & Wishes" and tied some ribbon around them. Super easy, gotta love easy especially when a 3 year old is helping..LOL!
Tomorrow, I will post what wonderful creations the kids come up with for their Valentine treats. I told the boys ( I have two older boys, Corbin is 8 and Ty is 11) that they had their choice of making their own or I would buy some pre-made ones for them today. Corbin, who is 8 said "Mom the home made kind are the best". SO true, isn't he a smart one!! Thank goodness for that, because there were no valentines to be found at Target today..eek! Tonight we will be venturing into the land of paper hills and glue stick trails. Stop by and see what kind of mess we make.
Have a great afternoon!

Forever in my heart!

Welcome to my new blog for all of my Stamping Getaway followers and greetings to those of you who are new. I am excited to share with everyone my new blog Paper Askew. I have come to the realization in the last few months that life is too short and that I am worth making every effort to make my dreams come true! Gee, what took me so long.. :) I really want to make designing paper items a priority in my life, because creating is one of my most favorite things! So this blog is my journey...lets see where I end up.

So, onto my first card on Paper Askew. This card started out as a swap that I was a part of. I did end up changing the layout a little for the actual swaps, because I had so much popping up on this card, the heart and the stars, a total of 13 would make mailing them a little difficult. I like how this card has lots of bright colors and it is completely versatile. You could put a ton of different sayings on this card, birthday, baby, cheer up...etc..etc. The swap was "Your favorite new Spring and Summer 2008 SU set". I chose the set "Independence Day", because it is so versatile. It contains this heart, the little stars and swirls, a firecracker which could be used as a candle as well, and a few more. Love it love it!! I hope all of my fellow swappers enjoyed the card I made. I can't wait to get their cards and share them with you.

I am off to spend a few more minutes with my hubby Al, today is our 13th anniversary. We had a wonderful weekend at the Broadmoor, but it was over way too soon.

Thanks for looking!
